We start our visit in the traditional fishing village of Ericeira, a famous holiday destination that offer the best beaches at European level for surfing and despite its tourism growing it retains its original characteristics. Free time to walk.
After a pleasant walk through the picturesque streets of Ericeira, we continue our visit to one of the most recognized national museum villages, the José Franco Village or Sobreiro Museum created from a dream of the sculptor and potter José Franco. A village that take us back to ancient times and that delights kids and adults as we walk through the carpentry, the Ti Lena store (a grocery store), the blacksmith shop, the winery, the school, the mill and the barber .
We follow towards the town of Mafra to visit one of the most spectacular national works, the Mafra Palace built by King John V in the eighteenth century integrating a Royal Palace, a Basilica, a Franciscan Convent and an important Library. Free time to lunch.
After lunch we visit the enchanted forest of the Tapada Real de Mafra, created in 1747 as a zone surrounding the National Palace of Mafra, which allowed the creation of a recreational area for the King and his court and also to provide firewood and other products to the Convent. With nearly four centuries of history, it is an enchanted forest where we can find deer and other great diversity of animal and vegetal species.
You can complete your visit by marking the various activities that Tapada Nacional de Mafra offers.
Discover Mafra and its historical, cultural and natural charms through a tour that will take you to nationally renowned places such as the traditional fishing village of Ericeira, the José Franco Village – Museum of ethnographic character, the historical monuments of the Village of Mafra and the enchanted forest of Tapada de Mafra, with four centuries of history.
